RSI On the March

Troops marching past headquarters off to war.

Much of their time was spent fighting Communist partisans.

In a large group they look pretty good, I think.

RSI Building

The building does not come with any interior, not even a full floor.

I added sheets of "Tile" around the edge of the second floor to create a small space for furniture and troops.

Not intended to create a mezzanine, but rather a simulation of a second floor so troops can fire out the windows.

I added the same tile floor to the first floor and made a large office.  Decorated it with large RSI posters, one of Hitler and Mussolini together.

The other with Mussolini on a horse.

The furniture is all various resin and plastic bits.

The drapes I downloaded from an advertisement for draperies and resized them to fit the windows.

Furniture is separate pieces so it can be removed or rearranged.

The mezzanine type second floor allows me access to the first floor.

Room to move about on the second floor.

Even marching!

RSI

A sturdy building.

It has a spot for a flagpole so I printed out an RSI one.

When the Allies invaded Italy, the government fell and was reorganized in two.

One was a co-belligerent with the Allies and the other continued to fight alongside the Germans, the RSI.

The rear door is a strong metal door.

The  upstairs window is blocked almost completely.

Fascist Italy

Lifelike made a host of American style buildings for decades.

This one was called the Woodlawn Police Station.

It's an HO scale plastic kit.

The original kit is molded in several colors, you can often find unpainted used ones.

I decided to make mine into an RSI headquarters.

I downloaded a number of posters from the Internet and printed them out in tiny sizes.

The kit has little flash and goes together well.

The fascines on the light poles and the columns at the entrance to the front door give a very Fascist look to the building.

The fascine is a symbol of Mussolini's Italy.

Republic of South Vietnam

Recently the City of Westminster, California dedicated a monument to South Vietnamese heroes.

When Saigon, the capital city of South Vietnam, fell to the Communists, most people in South Vietnam knew the war was lost.

Many high ranking military officials killed themselves rather than submit to Communist rule...

And as an atonement for failure.

Vietnam War Era Jeeps

Known locally as the "Jeep Guys" these are Vietnam War reinactors.

They operate and maintain an excellent collection of Vietnam War era Jeeps.

They are all in driving condition.  They range from gloss to flat finishes.

Most are M151 series, but some are older Jeeps.

They also show various military insignia.

Radios, flags...

And a host of uniforms, small arms, and vehicle gear...

An impressive sight seeing them all together.

ARVN Museum

Many of these models from the Museum of History of the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces are riverine ships.

I really liked this model.

Models were clean and the displays were well lighted.

I loved these first two ships.

LST with doors open.

Tank battle miniature in 1/35th scale, new.

The aircraft models were great.

I am inspired to make a few of these myself!

Particularly some of these the US military did not use.

They fly the American and South Vietnamese flags out front.
