Japanese vs Monsters!

The additional troops seem to help.

The Japanese lines are holding.

Yet the monsters keep coming.

Another soldier gets caught in their jaws.

The center of the line is split!

Japanese Army versus Monsters

Small islands are essential for airfields to support naval operations.

Clearing the islands of the enemy is hard enough, but clearing it of giant monsters is even harder.

Their primitive nervous systems makes them immune to pain.

The lack of heavy weapons makes it difficult for the Japanese infantry to get enough hits with bolt action rifles to disable one of these massive creatures.

The troops struggle to hand on while more troops arrive and deploy.

Japanese Troops Fighting Monsters!

In World War Two the Imperial Japanese Army set up bases on many remote and unexplored islands.

Sometimes they encountered strange, exotic, and even dangerous wildlife!

Their extensive combat experience in China did not prepare them for this!

These primitive, but dangerous animals were well armored.

Their large and strange appearance was also frightening to the troops.

Cambian Life

This thing looks like it could be a massive organic tank.

These organic forms could be alien plants.

They come in these bright colors.

These leach like things are very scary.  In real life most of this stuff is very tiny.  A couple inches long.

This scary thing had the eyes unpainted.

I decided to paint them dark metallic blue.

1/72nd scale Japanese WWII soldiers don't seem to appreciate the improvement in the eyes.

Doom Castle

The stone face of Castle Doom.

The trim and door have been painted.

The upper window frames have been installed.

Main hall without window frames.

Main hall with window frames.

Window frames installed, exterior view.  I picked the purple and plum colors because it is a comic book themed building.

The throne and carpet.

There are still some missing details, including the front ground area.

Dr. Doom in his throne room.

Cambrian Life

This is from the Cambrian Life Toob set.

These creatures come pre-assembled and ready to go out of the package.

The coral is interesting, plant or animal?

I think it would work as a tree on an alien planet.

Cambrian Life

I like to do science fiction and space wargaming.  So I am always looking for cheap sources of other worldly monsters.  While browsing the clearance isle at Hobby Lobby I found this great mark down.

It is a Toob of Cambrian Life.  It started at the low price of $9.99 and eventually down to $2.15.

You also get this bonus globe on the top of the box.

Paint Tray

Recently I have been using paints that come in the little squeeze bottle.

I have been squeezing paint out onto a bit of aluminum foil.  Then when I am done with it, I toss the foil.

I started using this little tray and then washing it with warm water when I am done.  It was only a dollar at a local store.

Japanese

WWII Japanese Army pilots from Red Box in 1/72nd scale.

I like the ground crews, perfect for China or a small island.

Installing bombs and painting kill markings.

Red Box has really improved their stuff.

Three sets of WWII Japanese Pilots from Redbox, and all great.

Shown here with Airfix figures.  The sets go together well.

Redbox Japanese

Redbox Japanese Naval Pilots and Ground crew.

I like having ground crew.

Aircraft bomber crew.

More Airfix WWII Japanese troops with the Redbox figures.

Great set, no flash.
