Firepower For Freedom

The use of radar on the ground to detect enemy artillery and direct friendly artillery is a tremendous leap forward in firepower for freedom.

Serving the guns is hard work. Handling shells, and moving the guns into position and then cleaning the guns after the fire mission.

Artillery is the king of battle. It kills more of the enemy than any other weapons system.

Artillery is very technical, since the beginning of artillery mathematics have been a critical part of proper fire direction.

These small guns usually have a crew of four men. One to lay the direction, one for the elevation, one to handle the lanyard to fire the gun and command the crew and at least one soldier to handle the ammunition. Here the ammo is close but sometimes many men are needed to pass the ammunition. One battery can fire tons of ammo in a very short period of time.
